Who can vote

Spanish citizenship, aged 18 by polling day and registered in the relevant electoral census. Residence in Spain without Spanish citizenship does not confer a vote in general elections.

Choose how to vote

At your polling station

Check the census, table and address when INE publishes election details. Bring original ID and attend your assigned station; you cannot choose any polling station.

Postal voting in Spain

Apply at a Correos office or through its enabled electronic service. Collect the documents personally with ID and return the envelope by registered post, following the instructions. Official 29 November deadlines and any extensions await verification.

Select individuals, who may belong to different parties. Up to 3 in mainland provinces; 2 in Gran Canaria, Mallorca, Tenerife, Ceuta and Melilla; 1 in other island constituencies. Additional senators are appointed by autonomous communities.

The prime minister is not directly elected. Congress votes on investiture: 176 votes for an absolute majority in the first vote; a simple majority in a second vote 48 hours later.
