What happened

The Madrid launch confirms Ada Colau as the candidate for prime minister and Emilio Delgado as the Madrid list leader, after talks with Podemos ended.

The coalition held its Madrid launch on 17 October with Ada Colau leading the nationwide project. EFE identifies Más Madrid’s Emilio Delgado as the Madrid list leader and Colau as the Barcelona lead candidate. The 12 October nomination has therefore become a publicly presented candidacy.

Leaders of the founding parties and allies spoke, including Urtasun, Bustinduy, Martínez Barbero, Valero and Pueyo. Colau highlighted housing and public services and regretted the absence of a general pact with Podemos. Her explanation of the disagreement is attributed to her speech.

Votuo analysis

The development is the actual launch and identification of the project’s leading candidates. Its priorities still need a joint programme with specific measures for assessment. Each organisation retains authorship of its proposals; joint commitments will need to be checked against the alliance programme and proclaimed lists.
