About PSC
Social-democratic party founded in 1978, federated with PSOE since its inception. It succeeds the PSC-Congress (1928) and other historic Catalan socialist formations. It advocates for a federal model for Spain with broad autonomy for Catalonia, rejecting both independence and centralism. It promotes left-wing policies in economic and social matters, with a strong commitment to the welfare state, labor rights, and equality. It has governed the Generalitat and numerous Catalan municipalities. The party represents the space of non-independence Catalan left-wing politics and maintains Catalan as its internal working language.
